Union Øye has been taking guests since 1891, at the head of a narrow fjord under the Sunnmøre Alps. It is a small house with a long memory, a member of Relais & Châteaux, and — for a family that wants its own walls — it has a separate log house in the garden.

This is a place we would suggest for two nights rather than seven, and for a family of eight rather than eighteen. The kitchen limitation is the hotel’s own statement, and it is the first thing we would settle before anything else is discussed.
The hotel describes the Torestova kitchen as small and not suitable for cooking. We do not assume cooking there is possible, nor that an outside chef may use it.
